In the second quarter of 2023, carpooling and ridesharing apps in the Middle East demonstrated notable user engagement and download trends. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, highlights the performance of the top five apps in this category.

Uber - Request a ride experienced a steady climb in weekly downloads, beginning at approximately 44.7K in late March and peaking at around 80.8K by the end of June. Active users also saw a consistent rise, starting from about 1.57M and reaching 1.73M by the close of the quarter.

Careem – rides, food & more showed a similar upward trend in downloads, starting at 29.1K in late March and increasing to 41.8K by the end of June. The active user base fluctuated but ultimately grew from 449K to 481K over the same period.

Bolt: Request a Ride saw a gradual increase in downloads, from 22.5K in late March to 48.4K by the end of June. Active users also followed an upward trajectory, rising from 190K to 218K during the quarter.

Ego | The Ride Hailing App had a more varied performance. Downloads started at 33.6K in late March, dipped mid-quarter, and then surged to 47.7K by early June, before falling again to 11.3K by the end of June. Active users mirrored this pattern, starting at 153K, peaking at 179K in early June, and then declining to 133K.

Jeeny - جيني maintained a steady increase in downloads, beginning at 12.3K in late March and reaching 24K by the end of June. Active users showed a similar trend, growing from 119K to 140K over the same period.
